The J. R. Tolkien is a luxurious gaff-topsail schooner of 42 metres in length rigged with two masts. If you're planning a day on the sea, J. R. Tolkien offers up to 90 passengers the opportunity to get a taste of the world of sailing boats. The saloon offers room for up to 50 people. For weekends and longer cruises 32 sleeping facilities in eleven convenient cabins are at your disposal. And there is of course a separate bath (shower) and WC. With so much luxury, it's hard to believe that this ship was launched originally as the tug Dierkow. This was in 1964. In 1994, her new owner Jaap van der Rest acquired the tug and converted her into the yacht J. R. Tolkien. Since then the yacht reliably sails the Baltic.
