Italia is the ex Swan Fan Makkum and was based on a design that made history in the 19th century when Brigantines were largely in use because of their outstanding sailing qualities and is the biggest in the world. The Brigantine, with her enormous mainsail on the hind mast was incredibly agile and the combination gave the best of speed and manouverability.
